In another study, one in five young women forget to take their contraceptive pill at least twice a month. (Ref: Organon - BBC.)

Evriwoman surveyed 3,000 mothers and 70% of those on the contraceptive pill said they had forgotten to take their pill at least once a month with 10% forgetting to take it four times or more. The survey also showed that its not just teenagers who are being complacent about contraception but older women too. (Ref: BBC.)

In 2004, an estimated 200,000 women took the emergency contraceptive pill as a result from missing or forgetting to take their contraceptive pill. (Ref: ONS Omnibus Survey.)

The Service

The txt reminder service is very easy to use. A txt message is sent to your mobile phone as a simple and very discreet reminder to take your pill each day, keeping you on track and making the pill taking process much easier.

No longer do your have to make a note to yourself, set an alarm or try to remember each day, this great txt reminder service is solely dedicated to all women who take the contraceptive pill so no more excuses to forget!

If you take the pill exactly as prescribed, including taking the pill at the same time each day when required, then its effectiveness is likely to be 100%.

Its very easy to join and only 25p per txt. (Any charges will be identified on your normal phone bill. Costs only incurred when you receive a txt message.)

You can 'opt out' of the service any time.

How It Works

The Combined Pill/Combined Oral Contraceptive (C.O.C) i.e. The 21 day pill with a 7 day pill break:

To accept the service, send just one txt stating:

1. 'MSE', the exact date you start the first pill in your next pill pack, the exact time you take the pill each day (using the 24hour clock), and 21. Example: 'MSE 3rd Nov 9.00 21' to 81222

A txt message will be then sent to your mobile phone starting on the 3rd November, at 9am for 21 days, this will result in no txt being sent for the following 7 days (no pill taken) then you will receive a txt for the next following 21 days and so on.

The Progestogen only pill (P.O.P) formerly known as the Mini Pill i.e. The pill with no pill break and The Combined Pill/C.O.C i.e. The 21 day pill with a further 7 day 'dummy pill:'

To accept the service, send just one txt stating:

1. 'MSE', the exact date you would like to start the service, the exact time you take the pill each day (using the 24 hour clock) and 28. Example: 'MSE 5th Nov 13.00 28' to 81222

A txt message will be then sent to your mobile phone starting on the 5th November, at 1pm everyday with no breaks.

Important note - This service is only available to over 16's who have been prescribed the pill by their GP. At any time just text 'MSE Stop' to 81222 and no text reminders will be sent to your mobile phone.
